Daytripper

Things I learned this weekend:

  • sitting in a car for ten hours is exhausting, even when you take occasional breaks, and even when you’re not the one driving
  • on a Saturday morning, any Tim Hortons location in Truro is best avoided
  • where to buy cattle feed
  • the town of Pictou is insanely pretty. I could actually consider living there.
  • every road leads to Truro
  • there is one church in this province for every two people (I’m estimating, here, based on observation)
  • I might not be particularly afraid of heights, but I have my limits. (Those limits being, apparently, standing on a cliff 1000 feet above the ocean.)
  • the view is totally worth it
  • tuna fishermen make a lot of money
  • a little silver saint on the dashboard of a borrowed minivan? Not at all reassuring on a terrifyingly twisty mountain road. (Probably not technically a mountain, but that’s hardly the point.)
  • as much as I like to cook, and as much as I’d rather eat real food, I’m happy to have an occasional excuse to eat nothing but fast food all weekend
  • even a short change of scenery is enough to save my sanity, but it just makes the wanderlust worse in the long run

1000 Days : Day 600

Of the past one hundred days, I’ve spent nearly eighty living out of boxes and suitcases. I spent November with limited internet access and no phone connectivity. I can’t count of the days lost to packing, and moving, and unpacking. I’m still not properly settled.

Unsettled

You’ve probably figured out by now that I’ve moved. Or, I’m in the process of moving—I’m in the new apartment, but aside from the barest necessities, I don’t actually have any of my stuff here. (It’s a long and boring story.)
