Twelve hours and counting.

Script Frenzy starts tomorrow.

I’m not even a little bit ready.

Well… maybe a little bit. I have names, ages, and general demographic info for my central characters. I know who my main character is, and I know generally what the story’s about. I have most of my first act figured out.

Looking at it that way, I’m in much better shape than I was going into it last year. When I started writing last year, I only had a one-sentence note outlining the original idea for the story, and my characters all had placeholder names for the entire month.

I had hoped for more, though. And I would have had more, if I hadn’t been knocked off my feet by a cold (the second one this year… ::sigh::), and spent a week with an attention span so short I couldn’t actually follow a half-hour sitcom, let alone come up with my own original story. Perhaps that’s not an excuse, but I’ve seen the kind of stories I come up with when I’m on cold medication, and it’s best for everyone that I don’t try that again.

Despite all that, I’m not too terribly worried. I have my characters, and I have my first act. I’m going to take some time today to refresh my memory of the story that originally put the idea in my head, jot a few actual notes down, and try to get myself ready.

I’ll be fine. (And, yeah—I’m mostly trying to convince myself.)

1000 Days : Day 600

Of the past one hundred days, I’ve spent nearly eighty living out of boxes and suitcases. I spent November with limited internet access and no phone connectivity. I can’t count of the days lost to packing, and moving, and unpacking. I’m still not properly settled.

Unsettled

You’ve probably figured out by now that I’ve moved. Or, I’m in the process of moving—I’m in the new apartment, but aside from the barest necessities, I don’t actually have any of my stuff here. (It’s a long and boring story.)
